Excursion Itinerary
Our Egyptologist tour guide will accompany you from your hotel in Cairo on an amazing Day Trip to Alexandria.
First, you'll visit Pompey's Pillar, a towering column constructed in the late 4th century to honor Emperor Diocletian. Originally part of the temple of Serapis, the pillar was once a magnificent structure rivaling the Soma and Caesarean.
Head to the Catacombs which are the largest Roman Cemetery consisting of three levels cut in the rock
After lunch at a local restaurant, visit the Qaitbay Citadel. This historic fortress was constructed on the site of the ancient Pharos lighthouse and is regarded as one of the most significant defensive structures not just in Egypt, but along the entire Mediterranean coast.
Followed by a visit to Bibliotheca Alexandria, which houses copies of every book published worldwide, Afterward, you will be transferred back to your hotel in Cairo.
Note: Alexandria Library is closed on Fridays, but visitors can still view the exterior of the building and take photos from the outside.
